IDFA Special Jury Prize winning Swedish documentary has been sold by Dogwoof to a handful of key territories.

Hogir Horiri and Shinwar Kamal’s film produced by Ginestra Film was acquired by ARTE GEIE for France/Germany, BBC for the UK, VGTV for Norway, VPRO for The Netherlands, VRT for Belgium and Movistar+ for Spain. SVT, DR and YLE had pre-bought it.

The Deminer is a nerve-wracking portrait of a Kurdish colonel who disarms thousands of roadside bombs and mines only with his courage and a pair of write cutters.

After its successful launch at IDFA 2017, the film supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond screened at various other festivals including Prague’s One World International Human Rights Festival where it won Best Film. The film is screening next at Hotdocs (April 26-May 6).

At the recent MIPTV in Cannes, Dogwoof also showed images of the all-archive based Danish film john + björn co-directed by Rasmus Dinesen (The Michelin Film) and Paul Bell (Senna), which attracted interest from European broadcasters including SVT, NRK, YLE and VPRO.

At the upcoming Cannes Film Festival Dogwoof Sales will be screening five Sundance selected documentaries:
  • The Price of Everything by Nathaniel Kahn (US), picked up recently by NRK, SVT, Canal+, Movistar+ among others,
  • Studio 54 by Matt Tyrnauer (US)
  • Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist by Lorna Tucker (UK),
