The Swedish executive was promoted from his current post as CCO and Vice-President of the Nordic group’s streamer Viaplay.
Bastin will take on his new job September 1st, 2020. He will be joined at NENT Studios’ new leadership team by Morten Mogensen, currently SVP and Head of NENT Studios Nordics and Central & Eastern Europe, who will be responsible for overseeing the group’s divestment from non-scripted production, branded entertainment and events companies.
Anders Jensen, NENT Group President and CEO said: “Alexander’s background in content creation and in depth understanding of our streaming operations make him the perfect candidate for the new leadership role. He will work closely with our Content function and external partners to ensure that we deliver a stream of high-quality drama series, films and documentaries on Viaplay.”
The latest Viaplay original The Machinery which premiered on May 24, just set a new record as the most viewed original series to date after the first premiere day, beating previous successes such as Love Me and Wisting. It also tops the list of number of started streams and number of minutes consumed of all Viaplay productions in the Nordic region during the same period.
The Swedish/Norwegian thriller The Machinery stars Kristoffer Joner, Hanna Alström, Jakob Eklund and Anastasios Soulis. The show directed by Richard Holm was produced by Anagram Sweden.
