The event features showcases of Nordic AI talents, talks on ethical solutions, and a networking hub for AI enthusiasts.

The Nordic creative consultancy The Alchemist Collective invites industry professionals to a pan-Nordic AI event, Nordic AI Mixer, on May 18th at the Cannes Film Festival.

The event offers an opportunity for the Nordic creative community to connect with global AI experts. The focus will be on creative opportunities and financial perspectives related to the use of AI in the film industry.

Two keynotes with different perspectives on the creative potential of AI in film will be presented. The first will be delivered by Verena Puhm, an LA-based AI filmmaker with a background in traditional cinema, and the second by Paul Trillo. As an American director, video artist, and AI pioneer, Trillo will represent the cutting edge of AI technology.

Following the keynotes, an expert panel discussion will follow. Panellist Benjamin Michel, founding partner of the film and animation studio Asteria, will talk about the development of an ethical AI training model, while Timo Argillander, from the Finnish private film fund IPR.VC, will bring a financier's perspective on the ethical aspects of AI in film.

Additionally, a Nordic showcase will highlight AI works from Finnish, Norwegian, and Danish talents.

Anssi Komulainen, co-founder of The Alchemist Collective, believes the event will provide much-needed answers to long-standing questions.

“We really believe that this is the momentum of bringing AI-use into films. There are ethical solutions, more understanding on how to use the technologies, and the business is in place as well. This is a big opportunity for the Nordic and European film producers to do stuff that wasn’t possible before.”

He also notes that the Nordic film industry is at the forefront of the AI development.

“The showcases present Nordic talents that we believe are on the front row of AI in the world, so we think the Nordics are leading the development in Europe. The event is a place to connect and find out where the bleeding edge is at the moment.”
