A Family, A Funny Man and Melancholia are competing in the same top categories of Best Film, Best Director and Best Script, along with Ole Christian Madsen's Oscar entry Superclásico and Carlos Augusto de Oliveira's feature debut Rosa Morena.
In the acting categories, Anders W. Berthelsen is nominated twice for Best Leading Actor for Rosa Morena and Superclásico. He will meet stiff competition from Nikolaj Lie Kaas, aka Dirch Passer in A Funny Man. Nicolas Bro (Beast) and Jesper Christensen (A Family) are running in the same category. In the Best Supporting Actor selection, David Dencik has also a double chance to win a Robert statuette for his performance in Rosa Morena and in Room 304.
US actress Kirsten Dunst, who won an award in Cannes for Melancholia, gets a new chance to be rewarded for the film as Best Leading Actress. She is running against Barbara Garcia (Rosa Morena), Lena Maria Christensen (A Family), Frederikke Dahl Hansen (Rebounce), and Tuva Novotny (ID:A).
Five films are vying for Best Children and Youth film: Bora Bora, Rebounce and the animation films The Great Bear, Freddy Frogface and Ronal the Barbarian.
Nordisk Film & TV Fond received a total of 60 Robert nominations for nine films.
