The Palme d’or winning director Wim Wenders (pictured)was among the film personalities that defied the heavy rain to attend Film i Väst’s annual press meeting last Saturday in Cannes. The German director came to promote the 3D project Everything Will Be Fine starring James Franco, co-financed by the Swedish regional film fund. “I’m happy to do my first Scandinavian co-production and first collaboration with Film iVäst,” said German producer Gian-Piero Ringel (Neue Road Movies) who is co-producing with Sweden’s Göta Film and Norway’s Mer Films. Principal photography will start mid-August. Film i Väst introduced its impressive line-up of 30 Swedish and international supported films that will premiere this year such as the Cannes competition entry Only God Forgives and a handful of new co-productions. Those include Ella Lemhagen’s Pojken med guldbyxorna adapted from Max Lundgren best-selling novel (Tre Vänner); Lisa Ashan’s horror project Förvaret (Garage Film) set to start filming in the autumn, and Staffan Lindbergs’ Sista chansen (Stella Nova)
