Some 3.4 million German viewers -i.e. around 17% of the population- were glued to their small screens last Sunday evening for the TV premiere on ZDF of the Danish hit series The Killing (Forbrydelsen), produced by DR.
The last DR Drama series that reached an 18% audience in Germany was Ørnen (The Eagle) shown on ZDF in 2005.
Komissarin Lund (the name of the series in German) was dubbed in German and benefitted from a strong marketing campaign from ZDF, co-producer of the TV series with NRK and SVT. The Killing was supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
