Danish actor Søren Malling (pictured) is currently filming in Iceland the coming of age drama Heartstone under the direction of up-and-coming Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson. Set in a remote fishing village, Heartstone portrays the journey of friendship and love that two boys (played by newcomers Baldur Einarsson and Blær Hinriksson) go through as one tries to win the heart of a girl while the other discovers new feelings toward his best friend. Malling is cast as a Danish immigrant who plays a vital role in the drama.
Guðmundsson’s feature debut was developed through the Cannes Résidence Programme, on the back of his award-winning short film Whale Valley.
The €2 million film is jointly produced by Iceland’s Join Motion Pictures and Denmark’s SF Film Production with backing from Eurimages, the Icelandic Film Centre and Danish Film Institute.
