The experienced TV drama director Charlotte Sieling (The Bridge, Homeland) has started filming yesterday the father and son feature drama Mesteren set in the Danish art world. The stellar Nordic cast includes Jakob Oftebro, Søren Malling, Ane Dahl Torp, Sus Wilkins and Søren Pilmark.
“Malling and Oftebro have a great energy that sparks in front of the camera,” said Sieling. They play two artists, father and son, who just meet for the first time. The father is at the peak of his career, and his son is the next big shot in the art world. Their relationship develops into an agonizing existential and artistic duel, as the father has no plan to be a father, and the son no plan to simply learn to know his father.”
The Danish Film Institute just allocated DKK 8 million in production support to the DKK 21 million (€2.8m) project produced by Denmark’s Nimbus Film, in co-production with Norway’s Hummel & Nimbus and the Czech Republic’s Sirena Film. The project is also supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond. SF Film will handle domestic distribution early 2017.
