Jens Lien's much awaited new film Sons of Norway produced by Friland Film will open the 39th Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund on August 21. Based on Nikolaj Frobenius' autobiography ‘Theory and Practice', Sons of Norway is described by producer Christian Fredrik Martin as ‘a film ‘full of music, energy, humour and most importantly a very powerful portrayal of a father and son relationship'. "I look forward to attending Norway's most important film festival and to present Sven Nordin in his life performance," said Lien, Amanda winner Best Director for The Bothersome Man. Sons of Norway was co-produced with Sweden's Götafilm, Denmark's Nimbus Film and France's Les Films d'Antoine, with support among others, from Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Pre-sales in Cannes are handles by Paris-based Films Distribution. The Norwegian International Film Festival runs from August 17-26, 2011.
