The Swedish Film Institute has just appointed Yaba Holst (pictured) as new Feature Film Commissioner. She succeeds Magdalena Jangard and will take up her position on January 18, 2016. Holst joins the SFI from Film Väst, where she worked several years as Senior Executive in Swedish feature film and television, focusing on screenplay consultancy.

Before that she held very different positions across the industry, working as an actress, theatre director, screenwriter, producer, production manager and screenplay consultant for companies such as Nordisk Film, Zentropa, Nimbus Film and Film Pool Nord. She also wrote the screenplay for two Danish films: Charlotte Sieling’s Above the Street, Below the Water and Stefan Fjeldmark’s My Embarrassing Family & the Spanish Slugs.
