The animated feature film Ploey – You Never Fly Alone by the creators of Legends of Valhalla-Thor, will mark the first ever co-production between Iceland and Belgium. The €7 million project is being developed as a joint production between Iceland’s GunHil and Belgium’s Cyborn animation studios.
Árni Ólafur Ásgeirsson (Brim) is directing with Gunnar Karlsson based on a script by Fridrik Erlingsson. According to producer and GunHil CEO Hilmar Sigurdsson, all development and layout, plus sound, music and final post and mastering will be made in Iceland while Cyborn will handle lighting, render and compositing. Both territories will split modelling and animation.
ARRI World Sales has pre-sold the project to over 20 countries including Russia, the Baltics, Poland, Middle East and South-Korea. Sena will release it in Iceland, and Filmkompaniet Alpha in Finland. The film is scheduled for delivery in 2017.
