Denmark’ Mikkel Jersin, Finland’s Misha Jaari, Norway’s Bendik Strønstad and Sweden’s Frida Bargo are among 20 promising European producers selected for the ‘Producers on the Move’ initiative in Cannes.
Mikkel Jersin who graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2011, was recruited by Nimbus Film where he produced Sparrows and co-produced other acclaimed titles such as Louder than Bombs and Virgin Mountain. Last summer he joined Snowglobe co-headed by Katrin Pors and Eva Jakobsen. Among his projects are new features by Amat Escalante, Joachim Trier, Omar Shargawi, and Ralitza Petrova.
Misha Jaari co-founded Helsinki-base Bufo in 2007 with producer Mark Lwoff and screenwriter Vesa Virtanen. His production credits include the award-winning films The Good Son, Concrete Night, as well as Korso and Armi Alive! Bufo launched in 2013 its own distribution arm B-Plan.
Bendik Strønstad teamed up with genre director Aleksander Nordaas and founded with him the company Yesbox in 2005. After their successful low budget fantasy thriller Thale (2012), the duo is preparing the follow up Thale-Conflux that received backing from Nordic Genre Boost. Strønstad also produced the chiller Villmark Asylym directed by Pål Øie.
Frida Bargo joined the Swedish indie house B-Reel in 2011. She has produced Lisa Langseth’s Hotel, Peter Grönlund’s multi-Guldbagge winner Drifters, and Pernilla August’s upcoming drama A Serious Game. She is preparing Langseth’s next film Euphoria, co-produced with Germany and the UK.
The Producers on the Move’ networking initiative organised by the European Film Promotion will take place between May 14-17.
