Swedish star actor Mikael Persbrandt is set to play a charismatic TV anchor who falls for a femme fatale half his age (Malin Buska) in the Estonian/Swedish/Norwegian co-production Nordic Instinct directed by Kadri Kõusaar.

Nordic Instinct will be Kõusaar’s third feature film following her acclaimed debut Magnus, selected for Cannes’ Un Certain Regard 2007, and The Arbiter, shown in Karlovy Vary 2013. The Scandinavian noir is based on the novel Lang by Finnish-Swedish writer Kjell Westö who will adapt it for the screen with the director. Other crew members include Norwegian production designer Nina Bjerch-Andresen (Headhunters), music composers Arve Henriksen and Jan Bang and Finnish cinematographer Jean-Noël Mustonen.

The film set to start filming early 2015 in Norway and Estonia is produced by Aet Laigu (Meteoriit Film), in co-production with Norway’s Hummel Films and Sweden’s Zentropa Sweden International.
