Nikolaj Arcel's A Royal Affair is leading this year's annual Danish film awards - the ‘Roberts' - with 15 nominations including Best Film and Best Director. Mikkel Boe Følsgaard who won a Silver Bear for Best Actor at last year's Berlinale, is vying for Best Supporting Actor, while his acting partner Mads Mikkelsen gets a nod for Best Leading Actor. Among the Danish star's competitors are his brother Lars Mikkelsen, nominated for A Caretaker's Tale, and Søren Malling, already awarded in Marrakech and Les Arcs for his performance in A Hijacking. Tobias Lindholm's hijacking drama is the second most nominated film with 12 nods, followed by Henrik Ruben Genz's Excuse-Me (10).
For the first time Danish TV series are also eligible for five new Robert awards. DR's series The Killing, Season 3, Happy Life, Season 2 and TV2's Rita have five nominations each including Best Danish TV series. The up-and-coming Sara Hjort is nominated both for Best Supporting Actress in the TV series Rita and for Best Actress in the film Excuse-Me.
The Robert winners selected by the Danish Film Academy's 1,200 voting members will be announced on February 24, 2013.
