In its latest round of production support the Finnish Film Foundation allocated €860,000 to two feature films co-produced with the Czech Republic. The majority Finnish comedy August Fools by Taru Mäkelä was granted €700,000 and the minority film Clownwise by Czech director Viktor Taus was awarded €160,000. Both films co-produced by Finland's Kinosto Oy and the Czech Republic's Fog'n Desire Films received support from Eurimages and a distribution MG from Nordisk Film in Finland. The €2m August Fools (Mieletön elokuu) set to start filming in June is a comedy set against the political backdrop of the Cold War. Norway's Pomor Film is also involved as co-production partner. Mäkelä's current film The Storage is the second most successful Finnish film of the year. The €2.1m Clownwise featuring three elder clowns brought together for the re-staging of an old act will be released in May 2013.
