A stellar cast including Eva Green, Mikael Persbrandt, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Douglas Henshall Michael Raymond-James and Jonathan Pryce have joined Mads Mikkelsen (pictured) in Kristian Levring’s English-speaking The Salvation. Scriptwriter Anders Thomas Jensen and editor Pernille Bech Christensen who collaborated with Susanne Bier on her Oscar-winning In a Better World, are attached to The Salvation, as well as cinematographer Jens Schlosser (The King is Alive). The epic tale of revenge, lost love and greed set in the 1870s America, has just begun an 8-week shoot on location in Johannesburg, South Africa. Zentropa’s Sisse Graum Jørgensen is producing, in co-production with Spier Films (South Africa) and Forward Films (UK) with support from The Danish Film Institute, DR, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and the MEDIA programme. TrustNordisk will continue pre-selling the film in Cannes.
