Mikkel Sandemose’s (pictured) €6.2m family adventure film Askeladden-I dovregubbens hall (The Ash Lad: In the Hall of the Mountain King) was awarded €480,000 in production support from the Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund.
The Norwegian film produced by Maipo Film, in co-production with Ireland’s Subotica and the Czech Republic’s Sirena Film was previously supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Filming is set to start in April 2016. TrustNordisk handles world sales.
The animation film De Kleine vampire 3D (The Little Vampire 3D) directed by Denmark’s Karsten Kiilerich and Germany’s Richard Claus was granted €321,000. The Dutch film is minority co-produced by Denmark’s A Film.
The Polish film Pokot (Game Count) by Agnieszka Holland minority co-produced by Sweden’s The Chimney Pot received €450,000.
During its 140th session held in Tbilissi, Eurimages adopted two new measures: a gender equality strategy together with an action plan for 2016-2017, as well as the new support scheme Lab Projects for innovative co-productions. For further information, check: www.coe.int/Eurimages.
