Rune Denstad Langlo's feature debut Nord won the FIPRESCI award for Best Film at the Berlinale 2009 Panorama section, as well as the Europa Cinemas Label, shared with French film Welcome.
With the Europa Cinema Label, exhibitors part of Europa Cinemas network, will extend the films theatrical release and increase their promotion.
Other Nordic films were praised during the Berlinale 2009: The Danish films Little Soldier by Annette K. Olesen won the Ecumenical Prize and Max Embarrassing a Special Mention from the children's jury of Generation KPlus. Defamation, the Israeli documentary by Yoav Shamir co-produced with Austria, the US and Denmark (SF Film) with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond, received excellent reviews following its screening at the Forum.
The Swedish film The Girl (Flickan) received a Special Mention for Best Feature from the International Jury of Generation KPlus.
The Berlinale 2009's main Golden Bear award went to Claudia Llosa's Spanish/Peruvian film The Milk of Sorrow.
