The Swedish/Danish crime hit series The Bridge and the Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, were some of the top winners at Sweden’s Kristallen (Crystal) TV Awards handed out last Friday for the 10th time in Stockholm and transmitted live on TV4.
The Bridge was awarded Best TV Drama of the year and its leading lady Sofia Helin (pictured here with Hans Rosenfeldt creator/writer) – aka Saga Norén - was handed out the coveted statuette for Best Female Actress in a TV Production. The series was produced by Filmlance International, Sweden and Nimbus Film, Denmark in collaboration with SVT, DR, ZDF and NRK.
TV4’s series Solsidan grabbed two Crystal awards for Best Comedy Programme and Best Actor (Henrik Dorsin). SVT’s Christmas calendar series Barna Hedenhös uppfinner julen was awarded Best Children and Youth Programme and the multi-awarded Searching for Sugar Man by the late Malik Bendjelloul won best Documentary Programme. His brother Johar Bendjelloul collected the award on behalf of the talented director who passed away in May.
A total of 16 Crystal awards were handed out on Friday of which nine went to SVT and four to TV4.
