The Swedish Ciao Bella (photo) and Danish Fighter are among the ten European films selected at the European Film Promotion/Variety's Critics Choices: Europe Now event taking place during the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (July 4-12, 2008).
Ciao Bella by Mani Maserrat-Agah based on a script by Jens Jonsson, had its international premiere at the last Berlinale's Generation 14+ where it was picked up for international sales by UK/South African sales company Spier Films. "The film talks about identity in a delightful way," said sales manager Christina Beatty, who was presenting the film at the Cannes market.
During Cannes, Fighter, another Berlinale 2008 Generation 14+ candidate, was sold by Montreal-based Delphis Film to several territories including the US (IFC Films).
