After his award-winning film Videocracy, Swedish/Italian director Erik Gandini prepares the new controversial documentary Lost in Perfection produced by Juan Pablo Libossart for FASAD. Taking as a starting point the 1972 Swedish political manifest that stated that ‘no citizen should be depending on another", Gandini’s intention is to challenge this idea and the image of Scandinavia as an ideal and perfect society. The project co-produced by Indie Film in Norway and Zentropa in Denmark was granted NOK650,000.
One of Finland’s most successful directors Dome Karukoski will start filming this month the comedy Very Grumpy Old Man (Mielensäpahoittaja ja miniä) at the same time as his latest film Heart of a Lion reaches Finnish screens (October 18). The new project based on a novel by Tuomas Kyrö tells of a grumpy old man (Antti Litja) who has to stay with his daughter in law (Mari Perankoski) in the city while recovering from a leg injury and ends up playing an unexpected part in her business negotiations with the Russians. Very Grumpy Old Man was granted NOK1 million.
Solan og ludvig-herfra til Flåklypa by animation specialist Rasmus A. Sivertsen (Ploddy the Police Car Makes a Splash) brings back to the screens the beloved characters based on Kjell Aukrust’s universe. Produced by Cornelia Boysen for Maipo Film, the family film was granted NOK2 million.
The televised Christmas Calendar 2014 series produced by Anders Toft Andersen for DR was awarded NOK 1,250,000. The action-adventure show written by Poul Berg (Limbo) centres on 13 year-old science geek Sofie who has only one Christmas wish: that her divorced parents will get back together. She gets the ability to travel in time with the young rebel Dixie and changes her parents’ fate. Kaspar Munk (You & Me Forever) is directing.
