Exclusive: Finnish short format Servants of the Silent Ones tells of a family-run funeral home in Helsinki.
After the youth-oriented hit series Mental, #lovemilla and Nerd: Dragonslayer 666, Yle Sales has just added to its slate the mystery chiller series Servants of the Silent Ones (Hiljaisten palvelijat) written by actor Jani Naumoff (Blind Donna).
Theatre director Juhana von Bagh makes his TV drama debut with the 5x30’ series produced by Suvi Mansnerus and Tarja Granvik for Yle Drama. Jari Virman, Mikko Nousiainen co-star.
The quirky mystery/horror series of 5x30’ focuses on Luukas (19) who starts to work in his family business- the Raakama Funeral Home. As he takes part in the nightly corpse retrievals, a whole new world opens up to him and all the dreams seem to come true.... until things take a turn for the worst.
The best and worse of nightly Helsinki is revealed, where living is not easy, but where you definitely don’t want to die.
Headlining the cast are newcomer Pietu Wikström as Luukas, Jari Virman (Arctic Circle), Mikko Nousiainen (Deadwind, The Unknown Soldier), Tiina Weckström (Hooked, Hella W), Iida Kuningas (Concrete Night), Robert Enckell (Bullets, Bordertown) and Tommi Korpela (Deadwind, A Man’s Job).
The series will premiere October 30 on Yle TV2 and Yle Areena. Sales executive Maria Kivinen and Head of Sales Jukka Kaivola will start discussing the series at the upcoming Scandinavian Screenings in Helsinki (June 4-6, 2019).
