As an industry member - Your Views Matter - on what we see is the top issue for 2022.

Nordic film financing is at a crossroad between the traditional world of public film funding and broadcaster financing, and the new world of international ownership, global rights and fast, one-stop shop financing from global streamers.

The panel ‘THE FUTURE OF NORDIC FEATURE FILM AT A CROSSROAD’ - caught between the old and the new world, will be looking at the film sector as a relevant industry in the Nordic region, as well as a cultural vehicle on global multi-platforms.

The session will investigate the fights for our ‘souls’ (the generic and the unique), volume (quality and quantity) and ownership (IP rights).

Illustrious panelists taking part in the session January 21, 2022 at 3pm CET include:

  • Alexander Bastin, SVP and CEO of NENT Studios
  • Tim King, VP of Production, SF Studios
  • Claus Ladegaard, CEO at the Danish Film Institute
  • Fredrik Luihn, Head of Acquisition at NRK
  • Lucia Recalde Langarica, Head of Unit/Creative Europe Media
  • Louise Vesth, Partner/Producer at Zentropa, Denmark.

The session on January 21, 2022 at 3pm CET, will be moderated by Thomas Gammeltoft, Partner and Executive Producer at Copenhagen-based True Content Entertainment.

Tomas Eskilsson, Head of Strategy at Film i Väst, will also unveil some findings and conclusions from the Swedish regional fund’s upcoming pan-European study ‘Public Finance at the Crossroads’, based on more than 700 interviews with professionals and other current insights.

The session is part of Nordisk Film & TV Fond’s year-long project Audiovisual Collaboration Audiovisual 2021. For further information on Audiovisual Collaboration CLICK HERE.

The initiative - jointly organised by Nordisk Film & TV Fond and the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture - unfolded in 2021 under the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, major partner to the Fund.

Commenting on the opportunity for industry people to give their feedback ahead of the panel ‘The Future of Nordic Feature Film at a Crossroad’, Liselott Forsman, CEO at Nordisk Film & TV Fond said: “One core principle of the bridge-building project Audiovisual Collaboration 2021 has been to deepen discussions from one event and action to another. When now planning the project’s final event on the future of the Nordic film industry, we will carefully listen to the industry as an important source of inspiration for the January 21st panel, but also for other future discussions. Simultaneously we are testing a virtual tool that helps us keep up an active dialogue within the Nordic industry.”
