The realistic police drama picked up Best TV Drama and Best Programme of the year at the annual Swedish television awards handed out Friday 27 August.
Thin Blue Line (Tunna blå linjen) which features the daily job of police officers in Malmö was crowned TV drama of the year, ahead of Snabba Cash (Netflix), The Hunt for a Killer (SVT), Thunder in My Heart (Viaplay) and Beartown (HBO).
The series produced by Anagram Sweden was nominated earlier this year for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize-best screenplay for a Nordic TV drama. A returning season has been ordered by SVT.
In a year where competition was particularly stiff in the acting categories, rising talent Alexander Abdallah nabbed Best Actor for his role in the crime show Snabba Cash. Netflix’s smash hit was produced by Nicklas Wikström Nicastro for SFStudios. A second season is due to premiere on the US streaming giant in 2022.
Amy Deasismont who created the YA coming-of-age show Thunder in My Heart for NENT Group’s Viaplay was voted Best Actress. The show was produced by BR-F, also behind Nathan Grossman’s Greta (SVT), which scooped a Kristallen for Best Documentary Programme.
Elsewhere, Discovery +/Kanak5’s much talked about five-part series Estonia: The Find That Changes Everything produced by Monster in Norway won Best Investigative Programme.
Djuren på Djuris (Nexiko/UR) was voted Best Children’s Programme and Premiärdatum oklart (GKU/SVT) Best Comedy Programme.
A total of 21 awards were given out on Friday at the Kristallen TV Awards ceremony held on-site at Stockholm’s Cirkus.
