Bornebusch will also star in the film, alongside Johan Rheborg, Alba August and Gustav Lindh.
Other top Scandinavian actors include Marie Göranzon (Beck), Joel Spira(Thicker than Water), Vera Vitali (The Bonus Family), Erik Johansson (The Bonus Family), Peter Andersson (Agent Hamilton), Rebecka Josephson (My Skinny Sister) and Tova Magnusson (The Restaurant).
The experimental film with the working title Orca started shooting last week.
The story follows a group of people, confronted with life’s most difficult questions, while forced to self-isolate.
All the characters communicate via phones and screens. To abide to social distancing rules under Covid 19, each actor filmed his/her scenes separately with a minimal crew present.
Bornebusch said the show’s creative team moved “incredibly quickly from idea to filming” and NENT Group gave the greenlight “at record speed”.
“Social distancing is the story of our time, but behind the headlines lie millions of personal dramas being lived by people all over the world,” added Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer. “Josephine Bornebusch’s latest Viaplay original dramatises some of the emotional impact of this extraordinary situation and asks what togetherness can mean when we’re apart.”
Orca is due to premiere on Viaplay in the fall 2020.
The drama is the third collaboration between actress-turned-director Bornebusch, producer Sofie Palage of Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden, and NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay, after the hit romantic comedy Love Me (Älska mig) and the upcoming show Harmonica.
Love Me which has topped Viaplay’s viewing charts since its premiere in the fall 2019, has been renewed for a second season. Season 1 was sold by Eccho Rights to Dutch broadcaster NPO.
