Cengiz Al had his breakthrough in the Norwegian cult series Skam in which he played Yousef Acar. He then landed one of the main roles in the youth drama All Foreigners Keep their Curtains Closed.

“Cengiz has a presence and a human warmth, which combined with a lofty attitude makes him the whole of Norway's dream prince,” said producer Frederick P N Howard, CEO of Storm Films.

Al said: “I had just become a father when I got a phone call to audition for the role of the prince. I've had a real adrenaline rush since then, and now we're finally up and running with this beautiful big movie. It feels like a dream role!”

Playing Cinderella is Norwegian electro pop singer/songwriter Astrid Smeplass (aka Astrid S) in her screen debut.

The film Three Wishes for Cinderella (Tre nøtter till Askepotten) is a modern version of the 1973 Czech/German classic, set in the Norwegian’s Arctic winter and wild landscape.

Seasoned TV director Cecilie Mosli (Mammon, Thin Ice) makes her feature film debut, based on a script by Kamilla Krogsveen (Journey to the Christmas Star), Karsten Fullu (Captain Sabertooth & the Magic Diamond), and award-winning writing duo Anna Bache-Wiig and Siv Rajendram Eliassen (Utøya: July 22, Acquitted).

The modern version gives a new dimension to the tale of a girl who has to break away from the tyrannical hold of her stepmother, by focusing on daring to believe in oneself and the power of love.

The film is produced by Storm Films’ Frederick P. N. Howard and Petter J. Borgli, with support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Nordisk Film Distribution will handle the local release in November 2021.
