In its September round of support, Nordisk Film & TV Fond has allocated NOK 18 million in production support to 11 projects.

Sweden, 1996. Tommy Lund, a passionate horse trainer, looks after the finest riders in the country. Charming and charismatic, this husband and father of two seems above all suspicion. He is also a psychopath, rapist and pedophile. Four women – Molly, Tommy’s wife Lotta and their daughters Victoria and Agnes – will fight, each in her own way, to defeat the monster and survive.
The series currently filming, is co-produced by ZDF and Film i Väst. The premiere is set for the fall 2022.

I am Earth (Verden er min) Format: 6x22’ Grant: NOK 700,000 Recipient: Monday Scripted Producer: Terez Hollo-Klausen Main writer: Amy Black Ndiaye Concept director: Øyvind Holtmon TV Commissioner: NRK Logline: The series follows Odile as she turns 30. Her friends seem to have proper jobs, relations and kids on the way, while she hangs out with her best friend Stian at his studio, making rap music she never releases. It’s about time for Odile to tell her dad who wants her to find a man, that she is lesbian.
The series received support from the Norwegian Film Institute. The premiere on NRK is set for February/March 2022.

Pretty Young Thing (Smuk) Grant: NOK 1 million Recipient: SF Studios, Denmark Producer: Marcella Dichmann Director: Tilde Harkamp Writer: Line Mørkeby Key cast: Andrea Gadeberg, Albert Rudbeck, Sylvester Byder, Karoline Hamm Domestic distribution: SF Studios World sales: REInvent International Sales Logline: The film is set at Rosenholm gymnasium, at the start of the school year. There are a lot of initiation rituals that the new first-year students have to go through, which are of great importance for their future life in high school, and not the least for their personal life. We follow six young boys and girls who are quickly challenged to their own limits and in their own way.
The film received support from the Danish Film Institute and DR. SF Studios will handle the domestic release scheduled for 2022.
Rosa and the Stone Troll (Roselil og stentrolden) Grant: NOK 1.4 million Recipient: Dansk Tegnefilm, Denmark Producer: Marie Bro Director: Karla Holmbäck Writer: Toke Westmark Steensen, based on an original story by Josefine Ottesen Domestic distribution: Scandinavian Film Distribution Logline: The animated film for 4-8 years-old and their parents, is based on Josefine Ottesen’s children’s book Roselil og hendes venner (Rosa and her friends), published in 1994. The film depicts the good and bad sides of friendship and how finding friends requires courage.
The film received support from the Danish Film Institute, the West Danish Film Fund, DR Ramansjang, and a pre-buy from French distributor Gebeka. The anticipated premiere is set for February 2023.
Operation Napoleon (Napóleonsskjölin) Grant: NOK 2.5 million Recipient: Sagafilm, Iceland Producers: Tinna Proppé, Hilmar Sigurðsson, Kjartan Þór Þórðarson Director: Óskar Þór Axelsson Writer: Marteinn Þórisson Domestic distribution: Samfilm Logline: The film is based on a novel by best-selling crime novelist Arnaldur Indriðason.
When a young Icelandic lawyer finds herself accused of a murder she didn’t commit, she is sucked into the vortex of an international conspiracy. Her only chance of survival lies in uncovering the secret of an old German World War II airplane, recently discovered on Iceland’s largest glacier.
The film co-produced by Germany’s Splendid Films received support from the Icelandic Film Centre.
Let the River Flow (La elva leve) Grant: NOK 2.2 million Recipient: Mer Film, Norway Producer: Maria Ekerhovd Director: Ole Giæver Writer: Ole Giæver Key cast: Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen Domestic distribution: Mer Film Logline: When the Norwegian government decides to displace the Alta River in the late 1970s, a Sámi movement begins. Ester, originally ashamed of her roots, has to embrace her heritage to help fight for the rights of her people.
The film co-produced by Bufo, Finland and Zentropa, Sweden, received support from the Norwegian Film Institute, the Swedish Film Institute, the Finnish Film Foundation, Yle, NRK, SVT, Filmpool Nord, Filmfond Nord, the Sami Film Instiute and Sami Parliament.
Filming in on-going and will last until February 2022. The domestic release is set for early 2023.
Fathers and Mothers (Fædre og mødre) Grant: NOK 1.6 million Recipient: Nordisk Film Production, Denmark Producer: Tomas Radoor Director: Paprika Steen Writer: Jakob Weis Key cast: Katrine Greis-Rosenthal, Jacob Lohmann, Amanda Collin, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Lars Brygmann, Rasmus Bjerg, Lise Baastrup, Carsten Bjørnlund. Domestic distribution: Nordisk Film Logline: Piv and Ulrik’s daughter has enrolled in a new school. That means new teachers, new classmates but most of all new parents. Patience, love and parenthood is tested, as Piv and Ulrik try to become part of the rigid parents’ group.
The film received support from the Danish Film Institute and YouSee. Nordisk Film Distribution will handle the domestic release, planned for October 6, 2022.
UFO Sweden Grant: NOK 1.5 million Recipient: Crazy Pictures, Sweden Writers/directors/producers: Crazy Pictures Key cast: Inez Dahl Torhaug, Eva Melander, Jesper Barkselius, Sara Shirpey Domestic distribution: SF Studios World Sales: REinvent International Sales Logline: A teenage rebel, placed in foster care, suspects that her father is not dead, but has been kidnapped by UFOs. With the help from a UFO association, she is determined to find out the truth.
The film is co-produced by SF Studios, Film i Väst and SVT, with support from the Norrköping Film Fund and the Swedish Film Institute. The anticipated Swedish premiere is lined-up for Christmas 2022.
Documentaries
Behind the Swedish model (Bakom Svenska modellen) Grant: NOK 400,000 Recipient: Freetownfilms, Sweden Producers: Dylan Williams, Viktor Nordenskiöld Director: Viktor Nordenskiöld Domestic Distribution: SVT Logline: The film follows Sweden’s suddenly world famous State Epidemiologist Anders Tegnell and Health Minister Lena Hallengren during their controversial no-lockdown-fight against Covid-19, examining how to stand firm against criticism and hate, and how to deal with worship, doubt and disappointments. Still not knowing the final verdict, the Health Minister turns into a patient.
The film received backing from the Swedish Film Institute, SVT, NRK, DR2. The premiere is set for 2022.
