The Nordic film centres/foundations/institutes renew their collaboration.

The Five Nordics is an umbrella cooperation between the Finnish Film Foundation, the Icelandic Film Centre and the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish Film Institutes, which have all collaborated for decades under the name Scandinavian Films.

Compared to the former name, which seemed to include only the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the new name clearly indicates that Iceland and Finland are also on board.

Whereas the previous Nordic film collaboration mainly focused on promotion of the region’s films and its industry at international events, under the new name the cooperation will be wider and more strategic, including, among other things, data analysis and sustainable industry development.

The Five Nordics will next promote the Nordic industry at the “Nordic House” during the film festival in Cannes, the same location which was called “Scandinavian House” in 2023.
