Films by Gustav Åkerblom, Christoffer Boe, Marius Holst, Joachim Hedén, Ali Abbasi are announced along with Spring Tide season 2 which will premiere in 2018-2019.

At Sunday’s Film i Väst press conference held in a villa off the Mediterranean shores just outside of Cannes, Scandinavia’s leading regional film fund introduced six new high profile productions and the teams of its four Cannes selections The Square in official competition, Beauty and the Dogs at Un Certain Regard, the Directors Fortnight’s short film The Burden and feature film A Ciambra.

The six new productions unveiled are the following:

The Purity of vengeance (Journal 64) is the fourth and final film in the Department Q series based on Jussi Adler Olsen books. Christoffer Boe (Reconstruction) is directing. Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Fares Fares will reprise their roles as detective Carl Mørck and his assistant Assad, this time investigating the case of three mummified corpses linked to medical experiments. Nikolaj Arcel has written the script in collaboration with Bo Hr. Hansen and Mikkel Nørgaard who directed the first two films of the thriller series.

Filming of the €5.5 million film will commence early next year with a delivery in the fall 2018.
Speaking on skype, Christoffer Boe said about the project:  “For me, crime is a wonderful genre where you can describe the underbelly society and go deep into questions of morality. I have for the last 15 films tried to develop a voice in cinema, running around on the left field of cinema. Now I have a chance to play in centre field and I will kick the ball as hard as I can."

Zentropa producer Louise Vesth told nordifilmandtvnews.com: “Christoffer is a clever director with a very strong vision. He wants to go a bit deeper in the behaviour of the characters and especially in the relationship between Carl and Assad, which is great.”
