Joining the stellar cast in Mårten Klingberg’s upcoming Swedish film are Hedda Stiernstedt and Lena Endre.
Loosely based on Ester Roxberg’s novel ‘My father Ann-Christine-the memory of a secret”, My Father Marianne is written by Ida Kjellin, Cilla Kackert and Daniel Karlsson. When Hanna’s beloved father tells her that his real name is Marianne, Hanna's world falls apart. None of her courses in gender studies has prepared her for this, and she loathes Marianne for stealing her father from her. But for Marianne there is no return. At last, she must be who she really.
Versatile actor Lassgård who starred recently in the series The Hunters and the Oscar-nominated film A Man Called Ove plays the title role in the feelgood movie directed by Klingberg (Offside, Cockpit). Hedda Stiernsted (Black Lake, The Restaurant) is Hanna and seasoned actress Lena Endre (Occupied, Faithless) is the mother Eva.
The director said: “The gap between our ideals and what we’re actually able to achieve can be both amusing and touching, like in this warm-hearted story about a young woman and her beloved father. My hope is that the film will be a universal story about maturing and daring. “
My Father Marianne is produced by Charlotta Denward of Avanti Film, in co-production with Nordisk Film, SVT, Film i Väst, Nordsvensk Filmunderhållning, support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond and the Swedish Film Institute.
Filming will take place between April 1st - May 17, 2019 in Alingsås, Västra Götaland. Nordisk Film will release the film in 2020.
