Sweden’s first original series for Netflix and the third season of the Danish drama produced by DR Drama are among seven European shows to be presented at the Zoo Palast in Berlin (February 7-17).

Both series will have their first two episodes screened.

Follow the Money (Bedrag), season 1 was already a Berlinale Series pick in 2015, when the festival first started to include TV drama to its feature film selection and red carpet treatment.  Hailed as “the best of the three seasons” by the Danish press, Follow the Money 3 is created again by showrunner Jeppe Gjervig Gram (Borgen) who has focused on two characters from the previous seasons Nicky (Esben Smed), who has become a heavy weight kingpin in the Danish underworld, and Alf (Thomas Hwan), now working in the Police’s gang units. “Season 3 is more a spin off than a third season, almost like a new series in itself,” comments Maiken Maigaard who handles world sales for DR Sales.

The 10-part series was conceptualised by Søren Balle (The Killing), with upcoming directors Milad Alami (The Charmer) and Gustav Möller (The Guilty) as episodic directors.

DR1 started airing the show on January 6, 2019.  Follow the Money 3 is among 12 Nordic shows part of the Nordic broadcasters’ collaboration “Nordic 12” and will therefore air as well on NRK, SVT, Yle and RÚV.

Quicksand (Störst av allt) is produced by FLX for Netflix.  The creative team includes experienced writer Camilla Ahlgren (The Bridge, Marcella), co-directors Per-Olav Sørensen (Nobel, The Saboteurs) and Lisa Farzaneh (The Truth Will Out).  Based on Malin Persson Giolito’s best-selling book, the show explores how far a person is ready to go for someone else.

It’s the story of a mass shooting at an elite prep school, and the accused perpetrator Maja Norberg. When the events of the tragic day are revealed, so too are the private details about her relationship with Sebastian Fagerman and his dysfunctional family.

In the lead roles are Hanna Ardéhn, William Spetz, Felix Sandman and David Dencik.  Netflix will launch it sometime this year.  Last year DR’s series Liberty and NRK’s Home Ground were selected at the Berlinale Series.
