Nordisk Film has just picked up distribution rights to the Swedish genre movie backed by Sweden's biggest influencer Joakim Lundell.

Currently shooting in Sweden, the film will be released domestically October 28.

The team behind the genre feature currently filming in Sweden, is led by first-time director Persson who has made three genre-oriented shorts, and runs one of Scandinavia's most successful casting agencies-Nord Casting. Internationally, he is also renowned as a musician, and front man/songwriter of the post-metal band Cult of Luna.

Alongside Persson is the creative producer Joakim Lundell - local celebrity YouTuber, musician and author, who also makes his debut in film. “I have always dreamed of making a feature film. For me, it is a completely logical step to enter the industry, and horror films are close to my heart,” he said.

According to Nordisk Film’s logline, Feed is “a modern horror film about culture influencers and the signs of our times in general”.

“We have looked at films such as Lights Out, Darkness Falls and A Quiet Place, films that are extremely effective in their narration, but that also feel very contemporary,” said Scandinavian Content Group’s Head of Scripted Content Paolo Vacirca, who serves as scriptwriter with Henry Stenberg, and produces alongside Alexander Eriksson.

The ensemble cast includes Sofia Kappel (Pleasure), Molly Nutley (Thicker than Water, A Wedding, Funeral & a Christening), Joel Lützow (Gåsmamman) and Vincent Grahl (Lyckoviken, The Circle).

Nordisk Film’s VP, Sales & Acquisition Rasmus Krogh says he is pleased to kick-start a collaboration with Scandinavian Content Group, credited for Netflix’s series Clark starring Bill Skarsgård, and Viaplay/ITV Studios’ English-language show M/S Estonia, created and directed by Charlotte Brändström.

Krogh believes Feed will also break new ground on the Swedish theatrical market.
"Basically, Swedish horror aimed towards a broad audience is a non-existing genre, especially when it comes to theatrical releases," he told www.nordicfilmandtvnews.com. "This is the first proper project in that field for several years. And the fact that the creative producer is the biggest male influencer in Sweden who will use all of his channels to market the film, creating new content on a daily basis, makes this a one-of-a-kind project that comes with several unique synergies."
