As of November 1st, the senior executive has shifted back to independent producing , while working as senior advisor for TV4.

In a short statement this morning, TV4 said Johanna Lind will take over as acting Head of Drama, until a new drama boss is named.

Gustafsson said in a short comment: “After three fantastic years at TV4, I have been given the opportunity to start working on some of my own projects and at the same time retain an advisory role on a consultant basis. During my three years, TV4 has gone through several sweeping changes.“

“The drama department is well equipped for the new digital challenges with a strong, knowledgeable and well-knit group, which is why it was an easy decision to change my role and hand over the leadership to Johanna Lind, who will become acting Head of Drama. I have great confidence in Johanna who, together with me, rebuilt and built up the drama department to what it is today. Johanna has great integrity and a clear and empathetic leadership. Can't think of a better replacement.”

Gustafsson added: “I am proud that in a short time, we have changed the supply strategy where we mix strong brands such as Beck, The Sandhamn Murders (Morden i Sandhamn) and Solsidan with impactful event series such as The Congregation (Knutby), Riding in Darkness (Natryttarna), Estonia, Evil (Ondskan), Cry Wolf (Vargasommar) with many more fine series that touch the whole country.”

According to TV4's statement, besides his new consultancy role at Telia’s media group TV4, the high profile Gustafsson will go back to producing feature films for his company Black Spark Film & TV and collaborate notably with Ronnie Sandahl (writer of Borg vs McEnroe and writer/director of Tigers )and Stella Härnström at the production company Rainy Days Film & TV.
