The departing CEO of Nordisk Film & TV Fond will start his functions at the SFI Board of Directors on November 1st, 2019.

The appointment by the Swedish government was announced today.

Kemppinen has served as CEO of Nordisk Film & TV Fond since 2013, a position he will leave at the end of October.

Prior to joining the Fund, he has worked as Head of Production at the Finnish Film Foundation; he also held various roles at the Finnish broadcasting company Yle, such as Commissioning Editor, and Head of the Youth Department.

Kemppinen sits on the advisory board of TV Drama Vision, the annual TV drama conference held during the Göteborg International Film Festival.

The Board of Directors at the Swedish Film Institute consists of maximum nine members, each appointed for a period of three years, with a possibility of renewal. The Board appoints the CEO who oversees the Institute's on-going operations.

Amanda Lind, Swedish Minister of Culture and Democracy said:” I am very happy that Petri Kemppinen has agreed to take a seat on the Board of the Film Institute. With him, the Board gets a member with long experience in film and television - both from a Nordic and European perspective - and valuable expertise in such an important organisation for Swedish film as the Film Institute.”

Anna Serner, CEO at the Swedish Film Institute said: “I have only good experiences of working with him [Kemppinen], both in his role at the Finnish Film Foundation and at Nordisk Film & TV Fond. He has a unique insight into the coproduction market, which is a crucial part of film financing.”

Kemppinen’s successor at the helm of Nordisk Film & TV Fond is Liselott Forsman.
