Pernille Munk Skydsgaard has 25 years of experience across Danish film and drama series production, distribution, financing and international festival positioning.

She has worked both in public and private sector in the Danish audiovisual industry, notably as Head of Distribution at the Danish Film Institute (handling both domestic and international films), and founded the production and distribution company 41Shadows.

Most recently she served as producer for the Copenhagen-based production powerhouses Drive Studios (2021-2022), and for the twin companies META Film & SAM Productions (2019-2021).

Her production credit includes the YouSee’s series Sunday, voted Best TV Satire at the Copenhagen TV Festival 2020, the family film Captain Bimse by Kirsten Skytte and Thomas Borch Nielsen, and this year’s candidate for Best Nordic Film at the Göteborg Film Festival: Empire by Frederikke Aspöck.

“I am overly thrilled to be the Head of DR Sales and leading a strong and dedicated team, responsible for distributing worldwide hand-picked original and great content,” said Munk Skydsgaard. “We only work with the best fiction, kids/children and documentary projects that we believe in. It is a dream job to be distributing strong public service projects abroad, projects that may have a bigger impact and starting an important, daring and intriguing conversation.”

“This job combines in many ways my 25 years of experience in the industry from various jobs, such as Head of Distribution at the Danish Film Institute, film distributor and executive producer. I cannot wait to meet our international contacts and colleagues at the upcoming festivals and markets,” said DR Sales’ Executive Director.

DR Sales’ slate includes the multi-season event series Carmen Curlers (DR), competing for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize, State of Happiness (NRK), the Berlinale Series Market Select 2023 crime show Nordland, the award-winning documentaries The Mole, Raising a School Shooter, kids series Team Nuggets, and DR’s prestigious back catalogue including The Killing, Borgen, When the Dust Settles and Cry Wolf.

Munk Skydsgaard will be working closely with her colleagues at DR Sales including Sales Executive Freja Johanne Nørgaard Sørensen, Executive Producer Documentary & Co-productions Kim Christiansen, Scripted Content Executive Camilla Maria Saabye Krog, Sales Manager Ella Glantz, PR and Festival Manager Nanna Lykke among others.
