The first Scandinavian Screenings' presenting some of the latest quality programmes from the Nordic region is taking place since Wednesday - until tonight - at DR's new media house in Copenhagen. Around 100 buyers are attending the informal television mini-market, jointly-organised by DR Sales and SVT Sales, in association with Nordisk Film TV, TrustNordisk, AB Svensk Filmindustri and Nordic World.
For Helene Aurø, Head of Sales for DR Sales, (photo) the annual MIPCOM and MIP TV television markets in Cannes are not sufficient to present all the latest products from Scandinavia, hence the need to create a new sales platform. "The market has changed and these days, new digital channels pop out one after the other, so many TV stations need more content. Nordic programmes are well-known internationally for their high quality, which is why we think in more innovative ways and try to find new opportunities to export our programmes and work with the industry to develop Scandinavian Screening."
Around 145 new programmes from the Nordic regions are being introduced to TV buyers in Copenhagen. Among the latest productions are the fiction series The Left Wing Gang (Blekingegade) produced by Zentropa, the Camilla Läckberg crime adaptations Stonecutter (episode 1 and 2) and The Jinx (episodes 1 and 2), produced by SVT, and DR's upcoming political drama series The Government (Borgen) directed by Søren Kragh-Jacobsen.
The Scandinavian Screening is supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
