Battle directed by Katarina Launing based on Maja Lunde’s script, offers a new twist to the classic dance films, with actress/dancer Lisa Teige and break-dancer Fabian Svegaard Tapia in the title roles.
The film has sold 45,000 tickets since its September 28 theatrical release in Norway via Nordisk Film, and now Netflix’s million viewers worldwide will be able to watch it from December 1st, 2018, in both a dubbed and subtitled version.
Besides Norway, the co-production country Denmark is also out of the Netflix deal and will release the film theatrically. In the other co-producing territories Sweden and Holland, Battle will be distributed directly on Netflix.
The deal with the OTT service was negotiated by production house Friland Film and Nordisk Film. “We’ve been negotiating for a long time, and had to wait until now to get the news out. I am very proud and happy”, said producer Pål Røed to nordicfilmandtvnews.com. “This is the first time such a deal is signed with Netflix on a Norwegian feature film.”
Battle was supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
