The exclusive content deal between the partners guarantees stronger investments into Finnish films in the next few years.

Through the deal signed between Nordisk Film and MTV all Finnish, Nordic and international films distributed in Finnish cinemas by the Scandinavian media group, will go straight to C More’s streaming service and will also be available on MTV’s TV channels.

C More’s Finnish customers will have access to international films from this year, while new Finnish films going into production in 2021 will be available on C More in 2022.

Marko Karvo, Chief Content Officer at MTV said: “We have listened to our customers. They have wished for more films on C More. Nordisk Film is the best possible partner for this. Our aim is to be the best possible home for the local content.”

Katarina Nyman, Head of Film Distribution at Nordisk Film Finland said: “This [agreement] marks a significant investment from MTV in domestic cinema, and I’m pleased that Nordisk Film has found a strong partner in MTV to invest in the best Finnish content. Through this collaboration, we can offer audiences even more engaging and high-quality domestic films,” said the seasoned distributor, mentioning the fact that in 2019, Nordisk Film’s domestic films accounted for 66% of all admissions for local fare.

Kenneth Wiberg, Senior Vice President at Nordisk Film added: “We are very excited to have entered into this strong deal with MTV. It follows similar deals we have made with local partners in other Nordic countries, and it is part of our strategy of bringing the best local and international content to as many customers as possible.”

In the fall 2019, Nordisk Film entered into new licensing agreements with YouSee in Denmark and with TV2 Norway. The first Nordisk Film title to land on C More in November is Knives Out, followed by Bombshell and 1917.
