Norway had a strong streak this year as the Special Mention went to Norwegian scriptwriter Atchy Konesh.

The Fund’s CEO Liselott Forsman, together with the European jury, just handed out the two Nordic Talents prizes at the National Film School of Denmark in Copenhagen, after two inspiring days with graduation film screenings and pitching of 15 pre-selected projects. According to the jury the quality of all the presentations was very high.

This year’s jury members were David Herdies, Piv Bernth, Cecilie Aspenes, Miikko Oikkonen and Sabine Holtgreve.

The film Cold Response pitched by director Ingvild Dahlgren was awarded the NOK 250,000 Pitch Prize, funded by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Jury motivation:

“A story about loss and grief. It is a very personal story, but accessible and relatable at the same time. The jury also enjoyed the selfreflective shift of perspective. The graduation film already proved the winner’s ability to communicate a clear vision and to handle the nuances of a complex story. In a time when war unfortunately is present everywhere, the jury highly appreciates the winning movie’s different and fresh take on the war theme. A beautiful love letter from a sister to a brother.”

The series project Jordan pitched by scriptwriter Atchy Konesh won the NOK 50,000 Special Mention, funded by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Jury motivation:

“This story about passion and love brings much needed hope especially to the younger generations. We are thrilled by the main character and his inner dilemma when balancing between his own expectations on himself and his passions of two very different kinds. The jury members appreciate the creator’s clear motivation to challenge stereotypical narratives. The jury was already impressed by how the creator, in his graduation film was capable of dealing with young people’s tough experiences with sensitivity and from their own point of views. The rewarded series could possibly be life-changing for young audiences.”
