Adrift is on the 2016 Black List of top 73 scripts in Hollywood yet to be produced.

The US thriller Adrift is based on a script by twin brothers Aaron and Jordan Kandell. Actress Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) is set to star.

Adrift is on the 2016 Black List of top 73 scripts in Hollywood yet to be produced. The sea survival epic based on a true story echoes Kormákur’s The Deep, although the heroic journey back home after a boat accident is not undertaken by an Icelandic fisherman but by a young woman who makes it to the Hawaiian shores after 41 days lost at sea.

Kormákur said a deal with a US studio is to be announced shortly. The director’s last Hollywood survival film Everest (2015) produced by Working Title for Universal grossed over $203.4 million worldwide.

Kormákur’s Icelandic thriller The Oath is the top selling film 2016 in Iceland with more than 43,000 admissions. According to Deadline, the film was sold by XYZ Films to several territories including the UK (Studiocanal), Spain (A Contracorriente), Italy (Leone Film Group), German speaking territories  (Alamode Films), Russia (Cinema Prestige), Japan (Klockworx), China (iQiyi), Turkey (Fabula) and the Middle East (Falcon).

The much anticipated returning season of the TV drama Trapped is in development and plan is to go into production later next year, Kormákur told to nordicfilmandtvnews.com.
