Abbasi’s highly original romantic supernatural thriller based on a short story by Let the Right One In’s John Ajvide Lindqvist fits perfectly in the line-up of the relatively new indie US distribution company which specialised in documentaries, edgy arthouse and genre films (both foreign and English language) such as Craig Gillespie’s I Tonya and Janus Metz’s Borg vs McEnroe.

Border (Gräns) had a 7-minute standing ovation at its world premiere at the Debussy Theatre in Cannes and received rave reviews in the international press.

Variety’s Alissa Simon described it as ‘an exciting, intelligent mix of romance, Nordic noir, social realism and supernatural horror that defies and subverts genre conventions. Jacques Mandelbaum of French newspaper le Monde said 'the film unnerves, disturbs and startles at the same time.’

The film was produced by Nina Bisgaard, Piodor Gustafsson and Petra Jönsson for Meta Film Stockholm, Spark Film & TV & Kärnfilm, in coproduction with Meta Film Denmark, and support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

TriArt will release it in Sweden and Metropolitan Filmexport in France.
