Nent Group greenlights YA series Threesome and A Class Apart

Eccho Rights has boarded Threesome, set in London, while Banijay Rights is handling A Class Apart, unfolding in an elite Swedish boarding school.

The two new Swedish series illustrate NENT Group’s more aggressive venture into Young Adult drama, both for an international and local audience, associating new and established talents.

With the eight-part series Threesome, actress Lisa Linnertorp (The Bridge, Hidden, Sthlm Requiem) goes in the footsteps of Josephine Bornebusch (Love Me, Orca) as a top acting talent who turns to directing, based on her own original material. The series about love, sex and betrayal is also the screen debut of hockey player and model Simon Lööf, who stars alongside rising talent Matilda Källström (Solsidan) in her first major role.

The story follows the young Swedish couple David and Siri who have been together since high school and are now living together in London. Their love is self-evident and strong, until they meet French art student Camille (Alma Jodorowsky from Blue is the Warmest Colour) on a rainy night out. A risqué game breaks out that becomes increasingly daring. At the time it feels exciting and harmless for all three, but none of them can predict the consequences of their drunken flirtations.

The international cast also comprises Lucien Laviscount (Katey Keen, Snatch), Emily Renée (Jupiter Ascending and Cat White (Dracula, Doctors). The series is produced by Helena Larand (Solsidan, Ture Sventon and the Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle) for Nordisk Film TV and Yellow Bird, in co-production with Film i Skåne.

Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner at Eccho Rights said: “Young Adult drama is such an exciting growth area right now and this raw, real romantic story, with a truly international perspective is perfectly in tune with the needs and wants of the market.”

Nent Group greenlights YA series Threesome and A Class Apart

A Class Apart / PHOTO: Marco Grizelj Kristian Krän H

A Class Apart is based on an idea by seasoned actor turned writer/director Henrik Schyffert (Black Lake) and Gustav Skörderman, with Michaela Hamilton (Eagles) serving as head-writer. The series is directed by Andrea Östlund, Erik Eger and David Berron.

The eight-part series explores a hidden world of privilege, power and deadly secrets at an exclusive boarding school.

When a student at the famous boarding school Tuna Kvarn is found dead, investigators are met with a wall of silence. Suspicions soon turn to pupils from a disadvantaged neighbouring state school, until a mobile film that reveals Tuna Kvarn’s humiliating initiation rituals appears on social media and triggers dramatic consequences.

Schyffert said he and Skörderman were inspired by the infamous scandal of an elite Swedish boarding school Lundsberg which temporarily closed in 2013, following hazing rituals that degenerated into sexual assaults and other humiliations.

In one of the starring roles is Valter Skarsgård (Black Lake) who says the show is “more than a teenage drama” as it explores “broader social questions.”

Co-stars include Aliette Opheim (Thicker Than Water), Henrik Schyffert, Alva Bratt, Maxwell Vaz, Edvin Endre and Tiam Miladi.

The series is co-produced by Jarowskij and Brommamamma, in partnership with Film i Väst.

Both Threesome and A Class Apart will premiere on NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay in 2021.
