French/Swedish producer Patrick Nebout (pictured - ) has launched the Stockholm-based TV drama outfit Dramacorp, a joint venture with Germany’s Beta Film to develop, executive produce and finance high concept drama with an international appeal.
The deal was jointly announced yesterday at MIPTV in Cannes by Nebout and Beta Film’s CEO Jan Mojto. The German co-production and distribution group has a first look deal and a majority stake in Dramacorp.
The experienced Nebout worked for SVT, Zodiak Group, before setting up NICE Drama with Henrik Jansson-Schweizer where he produced the drama series and BO hit . His most recent position was Creative Director for Paris-based Atlantique Productions, co-producer of the Swedish show .
Beta Film has been at the forefront of high end TV drama such as , , and its partnership with Nebout is a natural extension of the group’s long time collaboration with Scandinavia. Nebout told : “Beta Film is an ideal partner, with a unique expertise in co-producing, packaging and distributing scripted content on an international level. Furthermore, we share the same vision and goals, which is to find ‘out of the box’ projects and concepts.”
Dramacorp is finalising a slate of projects in a range of budgets and genres to be produced with Scandinavian and international talents and producers. The first project will be announced in a few weeks
