US, Mexico and Italy are the latest territories to acquire CPH:DOX opening film.

DR Sales’ Helene Aurø said: “There is no doubt that this documentary will travel well, not only because it is a violent heartfelt story about the Syrian conflict where it is virtually impossible to film, but also because Last Men in Aleppo won the Grand Jury Prize – Best International Documentary from the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.”

Territories that previously acquired the film directed by Feras Fayyad together with Steen Johannessen include Sweden, Norway, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, the Balkans and Spain. DR2’s Dokumania will air it in May and French/German channel ARTE in June.
The documentary about the Syrian White Helmets volunteer group is screening this week in Copenhagen as part of the festival’s main DOX:Award competition. It will also take part in Friday’s Good Pitch Europe event bringing together filmmakers with foundations, NGOs and other activist groups.

Next festival stops for the film include the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy and Cleveland International Film Festival in the US.

The film was produced by Larm Film, in cooperation with AMC (Aleppo Media Centre) and Germany’s Kloos & Co Medien, with support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.  DR Sales will continue sales at the upcoming MIPTV in Cannes.
