The Danish director’s The House that Jack Built just started filming in Västra Götaland county, Sweden. In the dark thriller Thurman and Hogan join the rank of unfortunate women who encounter serial killer Jack played by Matt Dillon.

Producer Louise Vesth of Zentropa Group said: “With these two fantastic actresses, the main cast is now in place, and we are ready to shoot - and kill! Uma and Lars first worked together on Nymphomaniac and complimented each other in an exceptional way; I can't wait to see which character they'll create together this time. Lars has had Siobhan in mind from a very early stage for one of the female parts, and it is an honour for us to welcome her back on set since her appearance in Dogville and Dancer in the Dark."

At a packed press conference on Tuesday Thurman said: I did a spectacularly challenging role in Nymphomaniac so I was so thrilled when Lars sent me the script and I said…OK…here we go! Other actors previously announced include Riley Keough, Sofie Gråbøl and Bruno Ganz.

The film takes place in 1970s USA. We follow the highly intelligent Jack through five incidents and are introduced to the murders that define Jack’s development as a serial killer. He views each murder as an artwork in itself.

The House that Jack Built is produced by Zentropa in co-production with Film i Väst, Copenhagen Film Fund, Slot Machine, France, with support among others from Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Nordisk Film handles Scandinavian distribution and Trust Nordisk has closed pre-sales to numerous territories including the UK/Ireland (Curzon), Germany/Austria (Tele München), France (Films Du Losange) and Russia/CIS (Russian World Vision).

After filming in Sweden, the cast and crew will move end of May to Copenhagen.

The theatrical release is set for 2018.
