Acclaimed Norwegian director Joachim Trier who loves playing with film language will next get into a new genre, the supernatural thriller with Thelma (working title). Memento Films International (MFI) is kicking off sales in Cannes.
Trier’s upcoming romantic supernatural thriller tells the story of a young woman yet unaware of her frightening powers.Trier is collaborating with his usual team, co-writer Eskil Vogt, cinematographer Jakob Ihre and editor Olivier Bugge Coutté. The film is produced by Thomas Robsahm of Motlys in Norway, in coproduction with Alexandre Mallet-Guy of Memento Films Production (France), Mikkel Jersin of Snowglobe (Denmark) and Mattias Nohrborg of B-Reel (Sweden), with support from Eurimages.

SF Norge will release the film domestically around Halloween.
Trier attended the Cannes Film Festival last year with his English language debut Louder than Bombs selected in official competition.
