The Finnish/German/Belgian co-production between Iron Sky Universe’s Tero Kaukomaa, 27 Films Productions’s Oliver Damian and Potemkino’s Peter de Maegd is tagged as the biggest live action Finnish movie ever with a €17 million budget.
Set 20 years after the original Iron Sky, the action takes place again on the Moon Base. Legendary actor Udo Kier returns in a double role as chief villains. Lara Rossi plays Obi, the daughter to Renate Richter (Julia Dietze) central character of the original film. Obi teams up with Sacha (played by Russian-born German actor Vladimir Burlakov) in an attempt to save what’s left of mankind. They must fight the Vril, an ancient shapeshifting reptilian race and their army of dinosaurs.
The film’s creators launched no less than three crowdfunding campaigns towards the financing and were able to raise over €1 million. Delivery date for the sci-fi spoof is set for 2017.
The company Iron Sky Universe set up to expand the Iron Sky universe and engage with the audience, is also preparing the multi-season TV series Iron Sky-Houston We Have a Problem!
