The well-known Head of Domestic Distribution Ahokas has just retired after a 20-year career at the Film Foundation.

Lasse Saarinen, CEO at the Finnish Film Foundation said: “Harri Ahokas has had a long and accomplished career as the Head of Domestic Distribution at the Finnish Film Foundation. He was instrumental in the digitisation process of Finnish cinemas, a task that was completed swiftly and insured the survival of a comprehensive cinema network in our country due largely to his efforts.”

Saarinen also welcomed the Film Foundation’s new Exhibition and Distribution Specialist Ilmari Arnkil who joined the Foundation on February 3rd from Nordisk Film where he worked as Sales Planner. From 2015 to 2017 he also acted as managing director of the indie arthouse venue Kino Sherly, on the Aalto University premises.

Arnkil’s duties at the Finnish Film Foundation will include supervising the exhibition and distribution support schemes to maintain a comprehensive cinema network, developing their operations and diversifying the selection of domestic and international films for Finnish cinemagoers.
