In his newly created role, Vesper will have a direct oversight of the group’s scripted labels including Scandinavian powerhouse Miso Film.

Vesper who joined the global indie distribution and production group in 2016, after working for various US groups such as Sundance TV, HBO and October Films, has held the position of Fremantle-Global Drama, President since 2020.

Under his new role, he will continue to build on Fremantle’s large portfolio of scripted drama, films and dailies around the world, on top of supervising Fremantle’s global scripted labels.

In the Nordics, those include the leading production house Miso Film (The Interrogation, The Rain, Face to Face) and Finland’s Moskito Television, added to Fremantle’s roster of companies as part of a 12-Nordic labels acquisition deal with NENT Group in 2021.

From his London office, Vesper will also oversee Fremantle’s partnerships with talents, including Swedish director Johan Renck (Chernobyl) and his production partner in Sinestra Film, Michael Parets, as well as Michael Winterbottom’s Revolution Films in the UK.

He will report to Andrea Scrosati, Group COO and CEO Continental Europe.

“The opportunity to oversee the Drama Group, and to help support and guide our producers to continue to make the best TV and films in the global marketplace, is a privilege,” said Vesper. “Over the last seven years, I have been lucky enough to be a part of Fremantle’s growth in the scripted business, and am proud to be part of us having increased the number of dramas we have delivered from around 30 projects in 2016, to over 100 projects in 2022. I can’t wait to continue the journey of growth and quality.”

Fremantle’s global distribution arm is representing several high-profile Nordic series such as NRK’s hit show Exit, seasons 1-2-3, produced by Fremantle Norway, and the Finnish financial suspense drama The Invincibles, produced by Moskito Television for Elisa Viihde. The show created by Matti Kinnunen, is nominated for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize for Best Screenplay of a Nordic drama series.

Fremantle is owned by the Luxembourg-based media giant RTL Group, itself controlled by the German multimedia conglomerate Bertelsmann.
