Aspöck won the Premier Prix of the Cinéfondation in 2004 for her short film Happy Now; and her latest film Rosita won Best Director in Moscow. Her forthcoming dark comedy is written by newcomer Lars Husum.
The central character is celebrity financier and jet-setter Markus Føns, who has been taken into custody. Following a brutal assault by a gang of bikers, Markus opts for voluntary solitary confinement. The isolation ward has a prison choir, of which inmate Niels is the self-proclaimed leader. Markus decides to join the choir and before long has his mind set on reaching the top of its hierarchy.
Aspöck said: “It is this completely absurd power struggle, played out in the voluntary confinement where society’s rejects are incarcerated. The film challenges our sense of community versus egoism and will leave the audience with food for thought and of course a good laugh!”.
Next to Søren Malling are Jacob Lohmann (Conspiracy of Faith), Christopher Læssø (The Square) and stand-up comedian Anders Matthesen. The film is produced by SF Studios Denmark in collaboration with TV 2, FilmFyn and support from the Danish Film Institute. Delivery is set for 2019.
